PRAMA was born in 1994 from 20 years of experience of Mario da Prada in the field of selling scientific instruments. Its specialisation is the analysis of surfaces and surface films. Until 2005 PRAMA had two divisions. The core business was surface treatment, in order to increase their endurance to fatigue (the customers were important manufacturers of bycicles, like Shimano Italy, Ambrosio rims and some more). In this period, the activity of selling scientific instruments and assisting the customers in their application was secondary. After having being granted the representation of new cempanies, leader in the field of surface analysis, the division handling the treatment of surfaces was sold, in order of focusing on the market of scientific instruments.
For sake of curiosity: In Sanskrit, prama comes from the verbal root ma, to measure, and means to measure out correctly. In Vedanta philosophy, prama means true knowledge, right measure.
